What is a Miniature Hereford?

First things first: a Miniature Herefordis not a calf.

Miniature Hereford cattle are bred for a smaller mature frame. That distinction matters, because “tiny cow” is the fun name on the sign, the breeding behind each animal is something we do properly. They are not bread with dwfism geane.

Why Miniature Herefords?

Why did we choose them?

We have 29 acres. That means every farming decision eventually comes back to scale. We were drawn to smaller cattle because they made sense for the kind of holding we own, the hands-on handling system we want to build and the more personal farm business we are creating.

We do not claim that a smaller cow is automatically “greener” simply because it is small. Sustainability depends on the whole farming system, stocking, pasture, feed, soil, inputs, health and management all matter. Our reason is more specific: smaller-framed cattle fit the direction we want to take this particular farm.
